Me and my prenatal vitamin
I am an expectant mother and I want to give the best nutrition to the baby growing inside me. Because of this, as soon as my husband and I started trying to conceive her, I already took prenatal vitamins. There are people who told me that it is not really necessary to take prenatal vitamins before pregnancy. But, I believe that taking prenatal vitamins before my baby’s conception is crucial to prepare my body to take on the rigors of pregnancy. Prenatal vitamins also help in my getting the nutrients that may be lacking from my daily diet.
The prenatal vitamins that I took before I got pregnant had the essential amount of folic acid in them to prevent my baby from getting brain and spinal defects. I also made sure that my prenatal vitamins had the right amount of calcium and iron so that there are enough of the nutrients in body for the bone growth and oxygen distribution of my baby once she is conceived. When I got pregnant, I was already assured of the health of my baby inside me through my taking prenatal vitamins. I also did not experience much nausea and vomiting through the help of prenatal vitamins.
Of course, I did not stop taking prenatal vitamins when I got pregnant. In fact, I became more careful to get the right amount of the necessary nutrients from my prenatal vitamins for the over-all development of my baby. I made sure that my prenatal vitamins have double the amount of calcium and iron that I was taking before I got pregnant. I also saw to it that the folic acid nutrient in my prenatal vitamins is of the exact amount needed for the brain and spinal development of my baby. I don’t want problems to occur to me and my baby while I am pregnant, so I make sure that the prenatal vitamins I’m taking contain the necessary amount of nutrients that I may not get from my daily diet.
I take prenatal vitamins just as food supplements to make sure that my body has enough nutrients for my baby to draw upon for her growth. Even if I am taking prenatal vitamins, this does not mean that I don’t eat a balanced diet. I make sure that I eat nutritious foods that have the vitamins and minerals also contained in my prenatal vitamins. This way, through the help of prenatal vitamins, I am assured that my baby and I are in great condition until that day, when I will finally see her for the first time.
